Accepting Illegal Immigrants In America

Illegal immigrants have the right to be accepted in America. There are many reasons why they should have the opportunity to live in the United States. American citizens feel that it’s a wrong decision by allowing illegal immigrants to have amnesty because it would create more job opportunities. Regardless of how much more money is going to be needed, illegal immigrants are ready to do work that others refuse. Illegal immigrants have families they wish to be living with as well. When talking about illegal immigrants, it is not necessarily just Mexicans, but immigrants from different ethnicities.

Nicholas Kristof, who is the author of, “Immigration Enriches You and Me,” from The New York Times, mentions that by allowing immigrants will cost less. Since money seems to be one of the many issues in this decision, Kristof says, “We as taxpayers have spent vast sums breaking up families and incarcerating honest men and women who just want to work” (Kristof 3). Illegal immigrants have families who they need to support and do not have money to do so.

Illegal Immigrants come to America simply because they want to live the American Dream. What really is the American Dream? The American Dream is having the freedom to have a better life through hard work and achieving success. Not only is it just about working hard but it is also a persons life to pursue happiness. This is what America is about, but when it comes down to illegal immigrants, America wants to shut them down.

American citizens may also feel that they bring a lot of diseases. Although, this may be true in some cases, but there’s always a solution. There are many ways to prevent this from happening. A former mayor from New York City, “cautions that they bring disease, “wretchedness and want” to America” (Kristof 1). Preventing this from happening is not a problem. Before allowing immigrants to come, it should be mandatory for every single one of them to get blood work done to check for any diseases. Society can not deny every single illegal immigrant because of health issues.

According to Ed Butowsky, who is a writer for Fox News, wrote an article, “We cannot afford amnesty for illegal immigrants.” In his article, its very upsetting to see that his reaction is very careless and rude. His main focus is more on money rather than thinking about the reasons why illegal immigrants want to stay or come to america. “Illegal immigrants, illegal aliens, undocumented workers, there are roughly 11 to 12 million of them” (Butowsky 1). There will always be money issues regardless of illegal immigrants.

Our nation has already been, “in debt of 18 trillion, on which we have to pay interest” (Butowsky 1). If we are in debt as it is, why not allowed illegal immigrants to work with a social security card and also have them pay taxes just like everyone. By provided them with this benefit, it will help getting America out of this debt. This will also increase job opportunities not only for them but for America in general.

President Obama has also agreed to grant amnesty to 5 million illegal immigrants. This is a good start because it will increase any financial issues. American’s who are against this, they know themselves that it will help, “in the last 12 months of our “wonderful” economic recovery,. we have created 2.6 million new jobs” (Butowsky 2). This is not a bad start, now in another year from now, that number is also going to double, perhaps triple from now.

Family is one of the biggest reasons why illegal immigrants are here or want to come. They want what is best for themselves, but most importantly their children. In Mexico, many people can not make the money that they need or even get the right education. Parents also send their kids over here or come themselves to give each other what is best. How can anyone feel great about themselves for not allowing a family to be together?

Illegal immigrants have the right to continue to be here. Let them live the American Dream that America started in the first place. Becoming a citizen shouldn’t be that hard, it’s not like it’s creating another issue. Giving them papers and letting them work so they can also pay taxes is one of the most smartest decision America should do. America is in debt as it is and there will always be problems. By allowing illegal immigrants to stay or come, is just eliminating one issue on the list of many other problems.

  1. You make a persuasive case on why immigrants do have the right to be United States citizens. Just don't use the word "here". Try using the actual location such as the United States. You also make a good point on how Butowsky's only argument towards immigrants is mainly about money. It's also great that you show the readers that the United States is suppose to be a freedom country, but then later gets thrown out the window for illegal aliens. You also make a good point when speaking about how to prevent diseases coming into our country. Just bear in mind that those who come into the United States illegally wont care about the peoples safety.

  2. The essay consists of ethical and anti immigrant issues in which you argue for and counter argue. In particular, you argue that while the government breaks up innocent, hard working families for not having documents; the American public in the end are the losers because of the misuse of tax payers dollars. Our government and even our presidents's do not expect 11-12 million undocumented immigrants to "self-deport" themselves meaning that some type of solution should be addressed soon. You mentioned that the president has granted amnesty to 5 million undocumented immigrants but that is partially false. Obama has granted work permits, giving them the right to live and work in the U.S for a couple of years. A combination of statistics and ethics made your article persuadable.

  3. Your argument makes really good points on how illegal immigrants have the right to be in the United States. Your argument does a good job at taking into consideration the other side of the argument with stating arguments for the other side and having a counter argument right after it.

    1. It is true that immigrants do indeed have a right to be here. Stating the position of this paper in the very first sentence really grabs a reader's attention. If they are already here, might as well give them an opportunity to help themselves out. This, in-turn, can benefit the American economy. The issue of money is always brought up and it will always be brought up when discussing something that someone opposes. Although it is a big issue, it is not the only issue, other factors should be addressed just like this argument implies.

  5. All of your arguments are clear. You should have used more examples on how why we should allow these "illegal immigrants" be allowed here. It is true that immigrants can give us benefits. However they are most likely to give us disadvantages than advantages such as over-population. Your counter arguments were very clear. I preferred you used more counter arguments. Overall, very logic, ethical essay.

  6. Your claim is clear and persuasive. There was a good proportion of your own thoughts with quotes from the articles. However, granting amnesty doesn't just eliminate the issue. It creates more issues. Additionally, America will always suffer from it's debt but adding to it isn't a solution neither. No one wants to see their debt increase but only decrease. Overall, you had great ideas and having both sides with a counter argument to the opposing sides helps make your claim.

  7. immigrants that learned our language, work hard, and adds to the tax revenue should be allowed to live in this country as well, but undocumented immigrants should not be granted the same rights as citizens that work hard everyday. We as Americans have to work very hard to live the American dream ourselves, and we should not allow illegal immigrants into our country that don't deserve it. America needs to fix their own issues, and help the citizens that were born here, instead of immigrants. this argument was very organized and provided a clear view of both sides.

  9. Your claims on why immigration should be legalized are interesting and mostly true, but it would have been nice if you were to include more on the negative so you do not seem to bias. It is good to see that you came up with some what of a solution on how to prevent diseases that can be spread in the United States by immigrants. Another good thing you pointed out was that there will be money problems with and without any legalization, which is true. One last thing is that you have to be more clear on some of the statements you post, for example on the first paragraph you post that it is a wrong decision to legalize immigrants because it will create more job opportunities.

  10. You have some good points in your argument. But again, you sound very bias because you hardly talked about the negativity that amnesty brings. You talk about the American Dream in your argument, when granting amnesty to immigrants citizen of the United States "American Dream" would vanish due to the cost of living increasing. You also states that illegal immigrants has a right to be here in re U.S. If that statement is so, why has it become a issue. If the U.S. Grants amnesty to illegal immigrants, the "American Dream" would loose it's value due to the higher way of living.

  11. You have a clear understanding of the argument and your position is very clear. When you stated that Butowsky was being careless and rude, he wasn't really. He was trying to focus on a point that many americans, politcians and others worry about, the economy. He was avoiding using his own emotions and sentimets into his argument. Additionally, many arguments do not focus on actual monatary problems, they focus on how the job force will be hurt. Other thn that you have a good argument.

  12. Your argument is very persuasive and was provided with many supporting evidence that helped you expand your reasoning. All paragraphs had sufficient evidence, but one thing that have been added to your argument was more of the negative side against amnesty.

  13. Youre argument provided many interesting points, but they weren't strong enough to fully bring your argument to life. Many ideas were underdeveloped, such as when you stated "There will always be money issues regardless of illegal immigrants." So youre saying that we should just add on to our ,money issues by granting amnesty? In addition to that, how will testing each immigrant work? will they be deported if they're tested with a disease? You stated that society cannot deny immigrants due to health issues but unless all these immigrants are going to be provided with the correct medical care, they shouldn't be allowed to roam the U.S. with any disease.
